New Community Partnership: London Cares Curb Hunger
The PATCH is excited to be a new community partner in the City of London’s 26th annual London Cares Curb Hunger campaign. Approximately one in five Middlesex-London households experience food insecurity. The campaign aims to raise awareness for the London Food Bank and the need for fresh food, especially during the summer months which is typically a slower period for food donations. The PATCH will be participating in the campaign by holding a food drive from our community partners and allocating two harvests of leafy greens from our indoor aeroponic location (Nathan’s Urban Farm) to the London Food Bank!
Here is how you can participate in the campaign this year:
• Fresh Food Donations: both perishable and non-perishable foods continue to be accepted at the Food Bank.
• Financial Donations: online donations can be made at www.londonfoodbank.ca.
• Plant-a-Row, Grow-a-Row: sign up to grow-a-row in your backyard or in a community garden and donate extra produce.
• Adopt a plot: Adopt a plot at the London Food Bank's garden beds.
Last year in the Summer of 2022, residents, businesses, and community partners came together and donated the equivalent of 76,800 pounds of food. Let’s come together and make a difference in the London community again this year!
